Why we need to protect our family lines

Whether through genes, learned behavior, or spiritual factors, unfortunate habits, illnesses, and other misfortunes can plague the lineage.
Do spirits of deceased family members "haunt" the lines, causing problems -- and some of the maladies?

Here we get into especially controversial research. One of those who subscribed to the notion was Christian psychiatrist Kenneth McAll, who wrote two books on the subject, A Guide to Healing the Family Tree and Healing the Haunted.

In them the psychiatrist argued that true-life case histories of people suffering from a variety of physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental illnesses showed that they were influenced by disturbed souls from previous generations (ancestral spirits who were seeking to work out unfinished business through the lives of the living).

"The cure, once the origin of the trouble has been identified, lies in Confession, forgiveness, and a new spiritual discipline based on daily morning quiet time with God and attendance at the Eucharist," says the book, which at the least is very interesting. [Read full article]

Catholic Church keeps vigil in Las Vegas

If you feel the need to confess after a night on the Strip, two churches are ready nearby.
[By Jay Jones, REPORTING FROM LAS VEGAS]
Pope Gregory I first identified the Seven Deadly Sins -- and suitable punishments for their commission -- around AD 600, 1,400 years before Las Vegas would earn the moniker Sin City. But the nickname is certainly fitting. Today, no one who practices gluttony amid the mountains of food at the famous buffets is forced to eat rats or toads. Nor is someone indulging in lust smothered in fire and brimstone.

Yes, the Roman Catholic Church still encourages people to confess their sins, but without the threat of being dismembered alive. And for those who've committed their transgressions in the towering resorts along the Las Vegas Strip, a confessor is never very far away. All the sinner must do is walk away from those clanging slot machines and smiling cocktail waitresses and straight out the casino's front door.[Full story]

LifeTeen founder is excommunicated
December 16, 2008
Msgr. Dale Fushek, the founder of the popular Life Teen program, has been excommunicated. Bishop Thomas Olmstead of Phoenix, Arizona, announced on December 15 that Msgr. Fushek and another priest, Father Mark Dippre, had been excommunicated because they had caused schism by setting up a ministry known as the "Praise and Worship Center,"

separate from the Cathoilc Church. Msgr. Fushek-- who was once the vicar general of the Phoenix diocese-- established the Praise and Worship Center after he was suspended by the diocese because of allegations of sexual misconduct with minors. The canonical penalty has no effect on Life Teen, with which Fushek is no longer affiliated. [Catholic Culture]

It's love not fear

Welcome Christ, don't fear the end of time, Pope says
Vatican, Dec. 15, 2008 (CWNews.com)

At his midday audience on Sunday, December 14-- the 3rd Sunday of Advent-- Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) told the crowd in St. Peter's Square that knowing "the Lord is near" is cause for joy, not alarm.

The Holy Father contrasted the attitude of St. Peter, in his Letter to the Philippians, with those who fear the end of the world. He pointed out that St. Paul himself, writing to the Thessalonians, told the early Christians not to be alarmed by those who predicted the end of the world. His message, the Pope explained, was that "the 'nearness' of God is not a question of space and time but rather a question of love."

This is the message of the Church as Christmas approaches, the Pontiff continued: "Love is drawing near!"

Following a Vatican tradition, thousands of children had come to the Angelus audience carrying the Infant Jesus figures used in their family crèches. Ordinarily the Pontiff blesses these figures, but this year Pope Benedict asked the young people to join him in a prayer, asking God to "bless these images of Jesus, who will soon come among us, as a sign of your presence and of your love in our homes."

Dong Yun Yoon - A true story of forgiveness

This is an amazing true story:

A naturalized American from Korea loses his entire family in the military jet crash that wrecked his house and killed his infant daughter, toddler daughter, wife, and mother-in-law. But he refuses to blame the pilot or bash the military.

Reader Mitch in San Diego e-mails: “I’m not even religious and I’ll say a prayer for this man. He has my utmost admiration. Truly an amazing gesture of forgiveness and patriotism on his part. There would be no discussion about immigration, illegal or otherwise, if this was the caliber of most coming here. Amazing.”

A Korean immigrant who lost his wife, two children and mother-in-law when a Marine Corps jet slammed into the family’s house said Tuesday he did not blame the pilot, who ejected and survived.

“Please pray for him not to suffer from this accident,” a distraught Dong Yun Yoon told reporters gathered near the site of Monday’s crash of an F/A-18D jet in San Diego’s University City community.

“He is one of our treasures for the country,” Yoon said in accented English punctuated by long pauses while he tried to maintain his composure.

“I don’t blame him. I don’t have any hard feelings. I know he did everything he could,” said Yoon, flanked by members of San Diego’s Korean community, relatives and members from the family’s church.

Authorities said four people died when the jet crashed into the Yoon family’s house while the pilot was trying to reach nearby Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Another, unoccupied house also was destroyed.

Yoon named the victims as his infant daughter Rachel, who was born less than two months ago; his 15-month-old daughter Grace; his wife, Young Mi Yoon, 36; and her 60-year-old mother, Suk Im Kim, who he said had come to the United States from Korea recently to help take care of the children.

Fighting back tears, he said of his daughters: “I cannot believe that they are not here right now.”
“I know there are many people who have experienced more terrible things,” Yoon said. “But, please, tell me how to do it. I don’t know what to do.”

… Yoon’s wife came to the United States about four years ago, Shin said.

Yoon spoke softly when he talked about his wife.

“It was God’s blessing that I met her about four years ago. She was a lovely wife and mother,” he said.

His voice fading, he added: “She loves me and babies. I just miss her so much.”

Forever Grateful choir at the healing mass of Fr. Fernando Suarez

Our choir provided the beautiful music at the recent healing mass-service of Fr. Fernando Suarez which was held at St. Denis Catholic Church in Diamond Bar, California. As usual, the church was packed inside and out that they had to set up a screen and chairs in the patio for the overflow. God rules for he is mighty and good. He will provide for everything that is lacking and will put things in order and peace. Here is a picture of the event from Bro. Joseph.

We prayed and watched Manny "Pacman" Paquiao win the fight

I'm sure many people prayed for Manny as well, but we also did before the fight began. Thanks to Sis. Estrelle for leading the prayers. We truly enjoyed watching Manny win plus the food that we all brought in and the camaraderie that we've been missing. Thanks to the generosity of Bro. Ray who invited us to see the much awaited event at their place. God is so good! I took some pictures but unfortunately, only a few came out that is good enough to share here because my old camera decided it didn't want to take pictures for me anymore and just died there on its own.
